Nigel has lived in Cherwell for almost 40 years. He knows the villages of the Fringford and Heyfords Ward exceptionally well. His parents live in Chesterton and having played football for Merton, he has played in almost every village over the years even winning the cup final in Ardley. He is passionate about supporting villages to retain sports teams.
Education is a cause close to Nigel’s heart. His wife is a Deputy Headteacher at a local Primary School and together they helped set up a children’s centre which they have since raised over £150,000 for. As a County Councillor, Nigel has been holding the Liberal Democrat-led administration at Oxfordshire County Council to account over their inadequate delivery of Special Educational Needs provision and their cancellation of the Spare Seats home-to-school transport scheme.
A former Parish Councillor, Nigel recognises the important role Parish Councils play in our villages. He will be a strong voice representing their concerns. He will also support them in standing up against speculative development in the villages.
Nigel also volunteers each week at the Cherwell Larder helping to collect and distribute surplus food to local families in need.
