West Bicester has had a major clean up thanks to Cherwell District Council’s street cleansing team. The week-long cleanliness drive, which took place last week, focused on eliminating litter, removing fly-tipping and cleaning graffiti.
The neighbourhood blitz ran north to south from Barry Avenue to the Middleton Stoney Road and East to West from Queens Avenue in the town centre to Howes Lane and removed tonnes of waste from the local area.
Residents could also take advantage of discounted recycling bins and free bulky waste collections.
Bicester West Conservative Councillor Debbie Pickford, who is also the District Council’s Lead Member for Clean and Green, said: “I’m pleased this busy part of Bicester is back to looking its best. Neighbourhood blitzes help to keep our important public spaces clean. Before the clean-up, some local cut-throughs between residential roads were virtually inaccessible due to fly-tipping and overgrown trees so my thanks on behalf of residents to the Council’s team for their fantastic work.”
