Residents of Easington will continue to be served by the B1 bus following the intervention of local County Councillor, Kieron Mallon.
Despite the decision by Oxfordshire County Council to stop funding bus subsidies for the B1 service, the valued route has been given another lifeline. In June, GoRide took over running the service on a trial basis. This trial was due to end in November but thanks to discussions with Easington County Councillor Kieron Mallon, GoRide have agreed to extend the service until January 31, 2017.
In light of the announcement, Cllr Kieron Mallon said: “The B1 is vital for Easington residents. I am absolutely delighted that we have been able to preserve this service until January. My thanks to GoRide for stepping in and continuing the B1 in the short term. I am continuing to explore several avenues to try and seek a longer-term solution for the B1 in light of Easington residents’ concerns. Commercial companies might not make the route pay but there are other providers, like GoRide, who may provide an answer.”
