Arash was re-elected County Councillor for the Deddington Division in May 2021 having represented the area since 2013. In that time Arash has fought passionately to represent the concerns of residents across the Division's 13 parishes on a wide variety of local issues, from potholes to fighting against excessive development, concerns about rural policing and infrastructure, and campaigning to protect vital local services such as bus routes and the Horton General Hospital.
As the former Chairman of the Oxfordshire Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee, Arash has been a vocal advocate for local health provision. This has included successfully resisting a proposed change in Cancer scanning services in the county and ensuring the future of A&E and other services at the Horton.
As a County Councillor, Arash has access to funds to help support local initiatives. Between 2017 and 2021, Arash used his Councillors Community Budget on several projects in the Division including new play areas in Deddington and in Duns Tew, a refurbishment of the kitchen in Steeple Aston village hall, the community Comet bus for Fritwell, replacing the heating in Souldern village hall, speed signs in Steeple Aston, equipment for village snow wardens and grass cutting.
The Deddington Division comprises the Parishes of; Adderbury, Barford St John and Barford St Michael, Bodicote, Deddington, Duns Tew, Fritwell, Middle Aston, Milton, North Aston, Somerton, Souldern and Steeple Aston.
