New stats released have shown that 18,000 jobs in North Oxfordshire have been protected through the Coronavirus Job Retention scheme whilst 4400 self-employed people have received grants worth almost £14.5 million to help with the impact of the coronavirus on their livelihoods.
Britain has benefitted from one of the most comprehensive and generous economic responses to Covid-19 in the world. The furlough and self-employment schemes have been a lifeline for millions of people whose jobs and livelihoods would otherwise have been at risk.
Nationally, around 1.1 million UK firms have accessed furlough support. 45,000 businesses have been supported through the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme and over 700,000 Bounce Back Loans, worth £21.2 billion, have been granted to provide help to those businesses that need it.
Our Government stood behind Britain’s businesses and workers as we came into this crisis and will stand behind them as we come through the other side.
