Banbury’s brand-new skate park had its grand opening at the Banbury and District Show today. Funded by Conservative-controlled Banbury Town Council, the £95,000 replacement ramps were designed for all types of extreme sports equipment and to accommodate varying abilities.
The new facilities even include a junior run for young skaters and beginners to practice their skills.
Councillor Colin Clarke is a Conservative Town Councillor for Calthorpe South and the Chairman of Banbury Town Council’s General Services committee that oversaw the build. He said: “We have a rolling programme of improvements for Banbury’s parks. This investment is a continuation of that policy. It has been a great pleasure to attend the opening today and see how popular the new facilities are with Banbury’s wheeled sports community. This has been a genuinely collaborative project – we invited local skaters to have a say on the design framework down to the smallest detail, so I’m delighted to see it come to fruition.”
