Residents in east Bicester can look forward to a brand new community centre after plans for a bespoke new facility were given the green light.
Cherwell District Council will now demolish the existing community centre off Keble Road and replace it with a brand new facility complete with meeting room, kitchen, toilets and a main hall with storage. 6 housing units will also be built on-site to help fund the project.
The current green space will be unaffected by the build with the sports court and external fitness equipment both retained along with the children’s play area which was refurbished by Conservative-controlled Bicester Town Council last summer.
District Councillors Sandy Dallimore and Donna Ford have welcomed the news as has the Conservative candidate for Bicester East, Sam Holland.
“We are pleased this proposal has been approved. The current community centre has served local residents well for many years but it now looks a little tired. The enhanced space of the new hall plus the separate meeting room and modern facilities will make the new centre an invaluable asset for the local community.”
