An outdoor cinema screen is coming to Banbury.
It is the final piece of the canal-side leisure development which already includes three waterside restaurants, and a 55,000 sq. ft. entertainment space complete with terrace restaurant and bar, multi-screen cinema, 10-lane bowling alley, retro arcade, and indoor mini-golf all of which will be run by The Light Cinema chain. The outdoor screen will be located on the terrace on the external wall of the back of the cinema and will be covered by a retractable roof so it can be used all year round.
It is intended that the outdoor screen will show not just films, but also sporting and cultural events.
And residents will not have to wait much longer to enjoy this exciting new entertainment offer as the build nears the end of construction.
Conservative-controlled Cherwell District Council has financed the £60 million waterfront development, the first phase of which was completed last year with the opening of the Premier Inn hotel and Lidl supermarket.
Banbury Conservatives said: “The offer at Castle Quay Waterfront continues to get better and better. The investment from The Light Cinema is a ringing endorsement of our town. This will be such a transformational project for Banbury and we look forward to visiting when it opens.”
