Banbury has been named as one of the Country’s best high streets. The bustling town centre with eclectic mix of independent shops and eateries has caught the eye of national judges who have shortlisted it in the Great British High Street awards.
The town was selected from a record number of applications after being submitted into the Town Centre category by Cherwell District Council.
Banbury Conservatives said: “Our High Street is the life and soul of our town. From small bespoke shops to historical town centre buildings and Castle Quay, Banbury is quite rightly seen a regional retail centre. We are thrilled it is being recognised by these prestigious awards. It is a fantastic endorsement of the hard work of Banbury’s businesses, local organisations such as the Banbury Old Town Association and local Councils who have worked tirelessly to enrich and promote all that Banbury has to offer.”
The public is now being asked to cast their vote in the awards. Alongside the public’s votes, shortlisted Town Centres will be inspected by the judging panel, made up of market leaders from across the retail industry. Their views will carry 50% of the decision, with the public vote carrying the other 50%.
